Standard Test Methods for Water Vapor Transmission of Organic Coating Films
These test methods cover the determination of the rate at which water vapor passes through films of paint, varnish, lacquer, and other organic coatings. The films may be free films or they may be applied to porous substrates.
Two test methods are covered in Test Methods D1653 as follows: Test Method A—Dry Cup Method, and Test Method B—Wet (Payne) Cup Method.
A similar, but more generally applicable test method is Test Methods E96 which should be considered when other materials are involved.
Water Vapor Permeability Tester W301
W301 Water Vapor Permeability Tester is based on the gravimetric method and can be used to test the WVTR of sheet materials and containers.
Water Vapor Permeability Tester W306
W306 Gravimetric Method Water Vapor Permeability Tester can be used to test the WVTR of plastic films, papers, sheets, containers and other materials.
Water Vapor Permeability Tester W309
W309 Water Vapor Permeability Tester is based on the gravimetric (cup) method and can be used to test the WVTR of plastic films, sheets, and other materials.
